There’s an ineffable feeling that one has after a Jesse G set, often evidenced by an upward turning of a lip corner, a child-like sense of discovering something new, or a renewed understanding of the word “fun.” Proficient at working a crowd, Jesse G wants you to feel whatever you want to feel during her sets, as long as it’s something. Known for her energetic, genre-spanning sets that surprise and delight crowds, the Berlin-based Techno DJ’s big sound is a playful wide range medley of deep, metallic and trippy to groovy, jacking, percussive sounding Techno with diverse rhythms and UK bass influence.
Growing up in Wiesbaden, Germany as a child of Filipino and Sicilian immigrants, Jesse found music to be a lingua franca that connected her with her surroundings. Her early introduction to music was through R&B, Italo Pop, and Rap and her deep curiosity and engagement with music in all its forms still guides her today. Describing DJing in her words as „a way to express how she hears the world“, her exhilarating sets borrow from a diverse range of sonic spaces and one can often detect influences from different genres such as bass music, breakbeat, house, reggaeton and dancehall alongside her meticulous and expansive feel for varied techno grooves and rhythms.
Her distinctive sound is also informed by an encyclopedic understanding of electronic music and her craft honed over her nearly six years as an integral member of the staff at the hallowed Berlin record store, Hard Wax. In addition to holding down residencies at RSO Berlin and Tresor, she has brought her sound to venues such as De School, Berghain, Open Ground, and Blitz Club; and graced festivals including ADE Het Weekend and Nachtiville.
